SIR – Westfield cannot have much confidence in the profit potential of the Broadway scheme, otherwise they would not seek to cut their losses and hive half of it off to a Dutch company at a knock-down price. Don’t be surprised if, before construction starts, the other half is sold off as well.
If a new joint development company is formed, then any previous commitments by Westfield alone will be forfeited.
We need someone with experience of the “big league” to negotiate for us, and make sure that the longer-term benefit of the Broadway site is fairly divided between Bradford and whoever ends up as the fourth, or is it fifth, potential developer.
