SIR – I was fortunate enough to attend a number of events at last week’s British Science Festival, hosted so magnificently by the University of Bradford.
I can only echo the sentiments expressed by the festival director Sue Hordijenko (as highlighted in the T&A, September 16) that the “city enthusiasm was magnificent” and that “there’s been a really good buzz around the city this week”.
I would like to congratulate all parties involved in the planning of the festival. I know through discussions with people I spoke to during the week, both from the UK and abroad, that they were highly impressed by the quality of the presentations and the excellent facilities they found on the university campus.
For an event like this to come to Bradford, and be attended by the likes of Professor Lord Robert Winston, Sir Ranulph Feinnes and Professor Jim Al-Khalili is a massive boost to our city and should be used as a catalyst to increase growth in investment and instil a more positive outlook in the minds of all Bradfordians that the city can be a major force once again.
