SIR – I would have thought that a fifth of the shops in the city centre are now empty remembering the old adage of ‘supply and demand’.
Look at some of the smart shops on Gordon Terrace in Saltaire a few miles to the north, and ask yourself if they would survive in the city centre. It is sad, I know.
