SIR – In response to Graham Hoyle (Letters, April 15), if it is desirable to keep everybody perpetually scared of something, it might be better if we were all scared of the same thing at the same time.

Therefore, I suggest that each Monday we are told what to be scared about that week.

We could have a week to be scared about tobacco, a week for alcohol, then climate change, then obesity, then nuclear power.

Finally, there could be a special week to be frightened of life itself.
