SIR – Re ‘Make assessment fair’ (Letters, March 5).
I have schizophrenia, diabetes, chronic sciatica, COPD (chronic lung disease), diverticulitis, in-growing toenails, am morbidly obese (through medication) and am a stroke survivor. I am on a cocktail of strong drugs, which make life hell.
I want to go to the firm that deals with the assessments and put my hands up in surrender. I’ve had enough. But in doing so, I will be assessed as fit for work.
I never thought the Lib-Dems would throw their hats in with the Neo-Cons, but it seems power is a heady trip.
I hope they can get me a job as a featherbed tester or jubilee flag seller or it looks like there will be another mentally-ill tramp on the streets. One of thousands more I fear!
Thank God for the churches in Bradford.
