SIR – The front page of the T&A on Wednesday, February 23, tells us that a six-strong gang has been jailed for a total of 60 years for a particularly violent attack to gain just £20,000, which, divided among them gives each of them a paltry amount of just £3,333.
In the same paper, a 48-year-old man is shown to have defrauded taxpayers of approximately £45,000.
His punishment is 150 hours of community service, which works out at just 18¾, eight-hour days, and 77 years to pay this money back!
Just think – the robber gang, now languishing in prison, could have got so much more money, with very little punishment, only the minimum amount of work and be walking the streets in freedom today!
