SIR – In reply to Jason Smith’s letter (Letters, January 17) ‘Pubs need rights’, I wholeheartedly agree – especially the issue of personal freedom.
If pubs and clubs had the right to be smoking or non-smoking, there would be freedom of choice.
Smokers would work in and patronise the smoking establishments, non-smokers would not be subjected to passive smoking working in and patronising the non-smoking establishments.
Everyone would be happy in the environment of their choice.
