SIR – Christmas is just round the corner once again and besides all the joy it brings, unfortunately it is a very stressful time.
Christmas cards, for instance. Who hasn’t, in the past, written all their cards, got them all off on time thinking ‘wow, another job out of the way’, only to have one or two more pushed through your letter box at the last minute from people you didn’t have on your list?
Instead of sending cards, I find it more satisfying donating £20 to my favourite children’s charity – Barnado’s – instead.
I find it far less stressful, it doesn’t break the bank and I’m sure the charity involved will well appreciate it.
If this wonderful way of helping out the less unfortunate catches on, I believe the only groaners will be the card manufacturers themselves.
