SIR – Shipley MP Philip Davies is absolutely right to criticise Bradford Council for stocking books written in Urdu in public libraries, pointing out this does nothing to encourage integration (T&A, November 22).
Pointing to the poor educational standards in the city, Mr Davies cites the fact that many children cannot speak English before they attend school.
The MP added: “We are trying to promote integration and this is not helping.”
For Labour councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers to respond with remarks aimed solely at scoring cheap political points, accusing the MP of “becoming a caricature of his own obsession with political correctness”, is utterly childish.
