SIR – D Rhodes (T&A Letters) refers to Tony Blair’s donation of receipts for his new book as admirable and finishes with the old maxim, “do not look a gift horse in the mouth”.
Who in their right mind would want to look at such a despicable and deceitful mouth? He is more like a Trojan horse bearing gifts – that’s a far better metaphor for our ex-PM.
The sordid details of his relations with his Chancellor just show how he treated the country with contempt, pretending the Government was a harmonious one.
The only way it could relate to ‘harmonious’ is with regard to the four last letters of the word, IOUS – meaning debts!
