SIR – In pre-election Tory literature, Mr Cameron promised that in a Conservative Britain: “If you put in effort to bring in a wage, you will be better off.”

“If you save money your whole life, you will be rewarded.”

“If you start your own business, we’ll be right behind you.”

“If you want to raise a family, we’ll support you.”

“If you’re frightened, we’ll protect you.”

“We will reward those who take responsibility…and care for those who can’t.”

Tories did promise sharp reductions in public spending, but only by cutting “Labour waste”, abolishing ID cards, reducing “gold-plated” Government pensions etc.

How many of the seven promises above have been torn up?

All public servants with responsibility face wage freezes and job losses. Elderly, children and disabled will suffer from cuts in council services due to Treasury pressure. Businesses with Government contracts will lose work. All families will lose out through frozen child benefits. If you need protection, you face danger from lack of police.

Seven promises broken out of seven.

The coalition Government has no democratic mandate for wrecking public services and jobs.
