SIR – Your campaign to stop the EDL’s protest in Bradford is misguided and will be counter-productive.
A ban would bring precisely what they want: publicity and a victim status. Support for extremists like the EDL is minimal but they have as much right to protest as anyone else.
They seek controversy and thrive on being told “you can’t do/say that”.
Let them come and let them be ignored. That would be their humiliation, not the sledgehammer of a ban.
