SIR – I recently visited someone at the Bradford Royal Infirmary and saw patients just outside the main entrance door smoking next to the ‘no smoking’ sign, which just proves how much notice people are taking of the ban.
It makes a mockery of the decision, and if and when the bosses go to visit the hospital, do they actually see the unsightly cigarette ends on the ground before entering the hospital, or is it a case of if there is no acknowledgement, then there is no problem?
I think they should take heed at what the Airedale NHS Trust is doing, check the outcome of their decision, and re-assess what is best for both smokers and non-smokers who visit Bradford Hospitals.
