SIR – Brian Holmans’s recent letter (T&A, April 13) should stop raking up the past to highlight his intolerant attitude of capitalism and, it would appear, to anything but full-blooded socialism.

And his likening of UKIP’s Godfrey Bloom to coal owners of 200 years ago is, in my opinion, infantile.

I wonder if Mr Holmans buys all his needs at the local shop to help the owner bring up his or her children, or, like the rest of us, puts money into the supermarket capitalists’ coffers?

Does he support the well-paid cabin staff of BA in their strike, which may well deprive a poor socialist of a hard-worked-for trip to some overseas destination?

I fear his politics seem to be of the mean-minded sort.
