Sir – I am writing in response to Mrs Collins’s claim that the Lib-Dem councillors are visible in Eccleshill (Letters, January 29).
I too live in Eccleshill and have never seen either of the Lib-Dem councillors in my area. Indeed, whenever I receive one their imaginative leaflets I immediately open my door and look down the street so that I can discuss my concerns, but am perplexed to find that the phantom postman or woman has mysteriously disappeared.
Furthermore, you only have to take a look at the Council website to see that our local Conservative councillor (much as I am loathe to praise the Conservatives in any way) is holding three surgeries this month, whereas our Lib-Dem councillors are holding one surgery between them.
So, Mrs Collins, may I once again raise the point that there is a world of difference between campaigning for election and actually filling the role of elected councillor.
