SIR – Over the last four years, my late husband has had to attend and be admitted to the two Bradford hospitals on several occasions.

The NHS is frequently given bad publicity, but I have nothing but praise for the care and attention my husband and myself have received from all those we called upon; the Newton Way surgery at Baildon, the ambulance control staff, the paramedics and the teams of doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff at A&E and on the wards.

All the areas we visited have been clean and would be easier to keep clean if some visitors were more thoughtful and took their rubbish home instead of discarding it on the floor.
