SIR – While cycling is a healthy pursuit, with an obvious friendship toward our environment, at times the folk aboard their bikes seem to leave any sense at home.

We’ve all got used to cyclists using the pavement, as pedestrians. We might not like it, but what can you do?

However, as many cyclists at night have an aversion to displaying any form of lighting, why, oh why, do they insist on riding on the road when it would be much safer for them and other road users if they did use the pavement during the hours of darkness? There are less pedestrians around then… As Forrest Gump says 'stupid is as stupid does…'
