SIR – What makes Clayton so special?
The Parish Church report claims it has increased congregations by 44 per cent over the last five years, and the Village Hall, with all its facilities, is constantly moving forward.
The annual Dickensian Market brings in greater crowds each year, and Clayton C of E Primary School Choir put Clayton, and indeed Bradford, on the map when they were finalists in the BBC School Choir of the Year Competition.
Clayton Cricket Club has made a big contribution to the community with their work among young people. Last year, they ran four junior teams and this was acknowledged by the Minister of Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe.
The whole village appreciate what they are doing for the youth of this village. Last Saturday they arranged a community bonfire, which has never been seen before in Clayton.
It was well-organised and brought in hundreds, young and old. The weather could have been better, but this did not detract from everyone’s enjoyment of the occasion, The hope is that it will become an annual event.
I would like to thank the many people and organisations for what they are doing for this village and helping make Clayton the place it is.
Dennis Delaney, The Avenue, Clayton
