SIR – Fear not, fellow Bradfordians, for we do have an efficient and listening Council.
Following the recent city centre Odeon protest meeting, the protesters left the walls and doorways of the Odeon building covered in chalked messages, each one containing an obvious suggestion or protestation about the future of the building.
Some were humourous, some nostalgic, some were quite rude, some equally polite, some very personal.
All were intended to get the message over to a Council, which despite the assurances of its leader, Kris Hopkins, many still think does not take into account the feelings of many Bradfordians.
But they are listening, or at the very least watching!
Within an hour of the end of the protest meeting, the Odeon building had been scrubbed clean of the chalked messages.
It was also interesting to compare that 11 miles away in Leeds, there was a massive police presence for two politically-opposed groups who were gathering for their protests, while here in Bradford, two police support officers were considered sufficient to watch over proceedings, and were never stretched in their employment. So much so, that they spent the duration casually leaning on an adjacent fence.
