SIR – Now that the court case following the horrific deaths of Janet Herd and Linda Tansley is behind us, the time has surely come for a cool look at speed limits on Harrogate Road.
There is a strong case for a 30mph limit right through from the city centre to Greengates.
The last section has seen a growing number of fatalities in recent years, and the best memorial we could offer to the two Eccleshill mothers would be a renewed focus on safety on this road, leading to practical action.
