SIR – Re James Morrow’s letter in the T&A of October 26. The Bradford City Run was publicised widely and letters were sent to local residents and businesses along the route.
However, as this was a new event, some businesses who operate on a Sunday did not understand the impact of the road closures until the day.
We have offered to meet with the taxi driver and his company to discuss the issue and improve our relationship and working arrangement with them for next year.
We are prepared to meet with any business that feels they may have been inconvenienced during the run so we can improve the event and minimise disruption to the businesses in the city for the marathon planned for 2010.
The run was a great success with a thousand people taking part, and we hope businesses in the city centre have benefited from the increase in people visiting either to take part or to support those involved.
