SIR – It seems obvious that public opinion is still on the side of keeping the former Odeon building.
It is, perhaps, worth a reminder that what we really want to save is the New Victoria, and Councillor John Hall (Letters, October 28) makes a very good point: that “all the rubbish, partitions, etc, be removed from the inside”.
If this was not done prior to the visit by the seven Councillors, then they have condemned a building, most of which they haven’t even seen – the original circle, stage, dressing-rooms and dance hall, all still intact and the interior decoration of the walls and the dome.
Would not this invalidate the vote?
Sadly, the stench of betrayal still hangs over City Hall, where the Council hides behind its “constitution” and “procedures”.
It was Mr Bumble who said, famously, “the law is a ass” (sic). In Bradford, it’s not the only thing!
Roll on the public inquiry!
