SIR – Having sat through the whole of the Council meeting regarding the future of the Odeon building, I was amazed that the Council backed the two Bradfordians in favour of demolition while ignoring thousands of Bradfordians that had objected to the Odeon building being pulled down.
Shame on Bradford Council. The people of this city deserve far better than these vandals who seem determined to destroy Bradford’s architectural heritage.
BORG wanted to make the Odeon into a world-class concert and conference hall housing 2,000 to 3,000 seats. Imagine what those people attending a concert or conference would do to the economy of Bradford city centre. Instead, the Council went with the concrete block plan of a hotel, office space and little else.
One word sums up Bradford Council – clueless! Or maybe four words – not fit for purpose.
