SIR – I write regarding the article ‘Doctors miss baby boy’s meningitis’ in the Telegraph & Argus on October 29.

On behalf of Meningitis Research Foundation, I’d like to wish Finley-Joe Hall and his family all the best for his continuing recovery from potentially deadly meningitis.

Meningitis and septicaemia are devastating diseases which can kill in hours. It is vitally important to be aware of the symptoms.

I’d like to direct readers with concerns about meningitis to MRF’s freefone 24-hour helpline – 080 88003344.

Trained staff and nurses are on-hand to talk through any aspect of the diseases – from information on diagnosing the symptoms, to counselling for those whose lives have been affected by meningitis.

We also provide free symptoms cards and leaflets for homes, school and places of work, which can be ordered through the helpline, or by visiting our website at meningitis.org.
