SIR – It just goes to show how out-of-touch the Tory Party is when one of its MPs, a certain David Wilshire, claimed that because he worked 60-70 hours some weeks his £64,000 pay was close to the minimum wage, which actually is £5.80 an hour for anyone aged 22 or over.
Somebody on a 70-hour week at that rate, with no holidays, would earn £21,112 a year. Spot the difference, David.
