SIR – Congratulations are in order to PC Moriarty whom, as reported (T&A, October 20), has been nominated for a police award later in the year.
The villages of Shelf and Northowram where PC Moriarty patrols are just up the road from where I hang my hat, and it is always a pleasure to visit these quaint and timeless places.
On my recent visits to these venues, there has never been a hint of trouble or lawlessness, so PC Moriarty is obviously doing a sterling job in keeping the ‘bad hats’ on the straight and narrow.
I wonder if PC Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes’s paths have ever crossed?
