SIR – Bradford has no bye-law preventing Barbara Rudd (Letters, October 13) emulating our American cousins by flying our national flag on her private property, providing it is secure, does not extend into the territory of others without their permission and has no advertising material attached.
As to whether flying the flag is relevant in today’s society, it should be noted that 83.9 per cent of USA residents are of European origin (including nine per cent Hispanic) and the UK has 81.5 per cent English (excluding Scottish, Welsh and Irish). Need I say more?
