SIR – Having read most of the items in the T&A concerning some motorists’ bad experiences when using the car park in Haworth – where their cars have been clamped as a result of their not complying with the rules of the said car park – I watched the TV documentary that was shown last week, wondering what kind of man it was who owned this car park.

Well, to me, the owner seemed a most reasonable man, who was merely being firm in applying the very simple rules which govern parking at this location.

The people whose cars had been clamped had just not obeyed these rules and were then disgruntled when they had been fined.

To avoid being clamped all the driver had to do was: 1. Park within the markings.

2. Purchase a ticket.

3. Display said ticket so that it could be read by the attendant, so he could see the date and time of issue and when the time ended.

4. Get back to the vehicle before the expiry of the ticket.

Basically, read the rules and comply with all of them resulting in no problems and most importantly no fine. Simples (or whatever the meerkat says in the TV ad!).
