SIR – I read recently that the BBC has scheduled the programme Land Girls at an earlier time than they would normally do, to create interest for the younger viewers.

It is now shown at 5.15pm each day of this week. So far I have seen two episodes and they have given younger viewers something to create interest.

In one-and-a-half hours of viewing they have touched on segregation (black/white), nudity, theft, teenage pregnancy, infidelity and made whisky from carrots.

As we have three more episodes to look forward to, what else will they show to create interest?

If this programme was shown at a more reasonable time I am sure it would create interest among the mature viewers, but to create interest among younger viewers, I don’t think so.

What will the BBC show next for younger viewers after school? I am no prude, but I feel the BBC have got this badly wrong.
