SIR – Sue Ward’s excellent article about Beamish (T&A, February 14) certainly showed that museums are not “dusty exhibits in dark rooms”. The same discovery can be made nearer to home. If you want to be up to date, visit a museum!
Sue would be welcome to visit the refurbished row houses at Bradford Industrial Museum, respond to the new People, Place, Imagination display of Cartwright Hall’s permanent collection, view the 60x60 films at Bradford 1 Gallery in Centenary Square, or join the crowd at one of Bolling Hall’s uncanny events.
These are only four of our seven municipal galleries and museums where outstanding education and outreach work involves children and adults.
In these bleak days, our museum service shows us what was and is good in our district and opens doors to the future.
