SIR – Bradford Council’s loss of the BORG objection to the demolition of the Odeon Cinema building is an appalling indictment of the workings of the relevant department, especially considering that that would be one of the most high-profile objections.
It is all very well chief executive Tony Reeves proffering an apology for this disgraceful occurrence, but how do we know that other objections have also not disappeared?
Those that were not as high-profile will be nothing like as easy to spot, and the whole episode is another shameful one for our Council who have not handled this entire matter in a particularly edifying manner. How can Mr Reeves convince us that others have definitely not been lost? And if he can’t, then what is he going to do about it?
In addition, to suggest that one should not call letters of objection as exactly that simply confirms the strange mentality of those in power here.
