SIR – Olympians only get the chance of being BBC Sports Personality of the Year once every four years, so it was fitting that Chris Hoy received the award after winning three golds in Beijing – the first Brit to do so at an Olympic games since 1908. Congratulations to him and all the other achievers in their respective sport, for without doubt they were ambassadors par excellence.
