SIR - Next Tuesday, the British Heart Foundation is holding its annual Hearts First York City Jog at the Knavesmire - a fun event that raises vital funds to help support men, women and children whose hearts need help.

This year we are looking for 1,000 people to take part and help us raise over £25,000 to support the BHF's life-saving work in the region.

Heart disease touches us all and events such as this raise vital funds to help the BHF continue its work, such as funding life-saving equipment, BHF Heart Nurses working in the community and providing grants for pioneering research and treatment at the region's hospitals and universities.

It's not a race - you can run, walk or crawl - and is open to everyone and you can choose either a 3km or 5km route.

Everyone taking part will receive a goody bag, day passes, discount vouchers and event t-shirt.

For more information and to register visit bhf.org.uk/York or call 0800 9176976.
