SIR - When the Queen described 1992 as her "annus horribilis" she also thanked Prince Philip for his indefatigable support throughout her long reign.
Despite his many gaffes and facetious quips, the Duke also endeared himself to the public, so it was gratifying to see him leave hospital looking none the worse after his treatment for a chest infection. I wish him well.
