SIR - It's outrageous that Lee Ann Korpal and her daughter Camillle Beutler of Wilsden may be deported because they were wrongly advised by British Consulate officials to apply for citizenship after entering the country (T&A, March 29). Mr Korpal, who was born in Shipley, is settled in a job with an aviation firm and Camille attends Bingley Grammar School. They are a hard-working, respectable family, and are just the type of people this country needs.
The situation is made all the worse when one reads that terrorist fanatics are being let out of prison early because of overcrowding and allowed back on our streets. Unbelievable. Justice Minister Jack Straw should be getting rid of the chaff, not the wheat.
