SIR - May I thank everyone who supported the collections in Bradford, Ilkley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Bingley and Saltaire in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Amounts raised were Bradford, £840; Ilkley, £1,164; Burley-in-Wharfedale, £396; Bingley, £344 and Saltaire, £274.

We very much appreciate the support of all our collectors who were so generous in the giving of their time and the public for their generosity.

This year is a special year for the charity - its 60th anniversary - and the need for support is as great as ever.

Our Bradford hospice, which cares for people in the Bradford Metropolitan District; our Marie Curie Nurses, providing end-of-life care for those who wish to remain at home, as well as our specialist nurse, based in Ilkley, are provided free of charge and we rely on the community we serve for support.

There are many ways that people can get involved - taking part in an event, sponsoring a special day, leaving a legacy in your will and, of course, volunteering to help at future collections.

Anyone who would like to know more about supporting the charity and its local services can contact me on (01274) 337036 or e-mail brenda.doyle@mariecurie.org.uk Brenda Doyle, Community Fundraising Manager, Marie Curie Cancer Hospice, Maudsley Street, Bradford
