SIR - In relation to the Government's plans to decimate our green belt, Jason Smith should examine his own "facts" before seeking to correct others (T&A, January 8).
Totally contrary to what he claims, the figure of 50,000 new homes for Bradford district did indeed come from the Government and is contained in its own Housing Green Paper.
The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly, in its draft submission to Government, put forward a much lower figure of 32,000 which I believed was still too high and therefore did not support.
Anyone who has followed this issue over the last few months will be well aware of my strong stance in defending the green belt and my position on this will not change.
Coun Kris Hopkins (Con, Worth Valley) Leader of Bradford Council, City Hall, Bradford
