SIR - It's good to see the growing awareness of bullying among young people and that it is being tackled in the Bradford district.

Unfortunately, bullying and harassment doesn't stop when people leave school. People of all ages are entitled to Dignity at Work'.

Resorting to using existing legislation may be costly, adversarial and exposing, and focuses on tackling problems when they have gone too far. People at work need independent advice and support to tackle these issues at an early stage.

Trade unions do this for their members, but people may be reluctant to involve the unions and need a place to seek help at an early stage. Many people work without union protection.

It takes confidence and courage to say stop'. I'd like to see some joined-up thinking and practical support in the district which encourages people of all ages to be able to challenge any discriminatory and unacceptable behaviour at work and play.

Awareness and discussion is very important but taking the next logical stop requires trust in the processes and trust in the people with responsibility for managing these workplace problems.

This is by no means an issue only for young people.
