SIR - I was amazed to read that angry regeneration chiefs were bewildered, angry and confused that they had been unsuccessful in their bid to win funding through the Lottery's Living Landmarks programme for the Park at the Heart Scheme.

Are they living on a different planet to the rest of us?

I wasn't surprised at all and neither were the many other Bradfordians who, over the years, have seen so many of these big plans for Bradford come to nothing.

Most of us are not interested in these "pie in the sky" schemes. All we want is some decent shops and a safe and clean city centre.

So come on, put away the tissues and get on with sorting out the Westfield shopping centre!
