SIR - It’s taken 80 years for the owners of the London Ritz Hotel to complain about the naming of the Ritz Ballroom in Brighouse with a threat of legal action, a truly David and Goliath situation (‘Battle of Ritz puts ballroom at risk’, T&A, February 22).
What proof do the owners of the Ritz in London have that the Ritz in Brighouse is detrimental to their business? They haven’t any of course. We now need the local authority and the Member of Parliament to sort this out by acting as mediators. Common sense should prevail and the Ritz ballroom should be allowed to keep its name.
