SIR - With reference to the feature (T&A, June 11) about compensation money paid, or to be paid, to cover the costs of acquisition and implementation of compulsory purchase orders in respect of the dormant Broadway site.

We are informed that Westfield has a deal with the Council to cover these costs.

Could we therefore have an explanation as to why the Council were named as the acquiring authority in the recent tribunal hearing by Castle House Investments. Also, why other companies are growing frustrated by waiting for settlement of a total figure well in excess of £50 million for a pyramid site of processed rubble over two years old?

We are told it is not big money to them.

It is humiliation to this city, and now is the time that substantial facts, not promises, are demanded by a Council which is now regarded by many as a music hall joke!
