SIR - I cannot for the life of me understand why the manager of First Bradford has been unable to come to some sort of agreement with the union employees to maintain the successful running of all normal bus services on Monday and Tuesday from the Bradford Depot.

Presumably further strike action will occur as long as this dispute is unresolved.

The primary job of such person is surely to provide the public with a service which involves working rationally with all the employees in an open and consistent manner.

I find it hard to believe that employees are so unreasonable that they are happy to forego two days pay and cause great inconvenience to the public, especially the working population who depend on buses to travel to and from work and people claiming job seekers allowance who travel by bus to job interviews etc, who risk losing their meagre benefits if they fail to attend such interviews.

Unless the union employees are completely pig-headed surely the management must accept full responsibility for this totally unacceptable outcome. Please resign and let us find someone who can maintain a regular reliable bus service for all those users who depend upon and enjoy bus travel and, of course, keep a good work force on the job.
