SIR – WITH just over two weeks to the General Election each day will bring more claims and counterclaims of each party’s intentions should they be elected. The Conservatives and Labour party have a daily contest which reminds me of the song Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better with the Tories giving us Keep Right On Til The End Of The Road while with the Labour party it is Tell Me The Old, Old Story.

No doubt the song from the Scottish wonder Nicola Sturgeon (pictured) must be If I Ruled The World. A must for the Green party must be The Impossible Dream, but if there is one song sung by all it has to be I’d Do Anything For You Dear, Anything, For You Mean Everything To Me, sounds familiar?

Songs apart, do we really want to see the SNP in the role of the tail wagging the dog? The NHS provides common ground for all parties but will we ever see 20,000 new nurses, 8,000 new doctors and GPs seeing all patients within 24 hours, this must be another instance of The Impossible Dream but having said this we should never forget the NHS, with its imperfections is still the envy of the world and must be protected.
