SIR - Further to J Hutchinson’s complimentary remarks about the excellent job done by the Peel Park staff (T&A letters, April 10).

I also walk in the Park and acknowledge the work done to make it as attractive as possible. However, on Easter Monday it was a disgrace.

It appears that a significant number of park users think that it is a rubbish tip. Picnickers will bring their families together with various takeaway containers, enjoy their meal and then scatter the resulting detritus far and wide.

Other diners pile their rubbish in the area of the overflowing bins. Why cant they take their litter home?

The selfishness of some people defies belief.
