SIR - It was reported (T&A, March 28) that an Asian teenager was spared jail by a whisker having been caught drink-driving.

It seems that he had fallen out with his parents as they had wanted him to enter into an arranged marriage.

Surely this should flag up massive danger signals about arranged marriages, which can be far too close to forced marriage.

This really is another of those practices that should have no place in 21st century society in the UK, and the sooner that arranged marriage is consigned to history, the better for us all.

In particular, there is no way that arranged marriages should involve anyone who is not resident in this country.
