SIR - Mark Lawn, the Bradford City chairman was right when he spotted the flaw in the Chelsea team was that they didn’t have a Yorkshireman in the side.

So the outcome was that the team from Yorkshire were victorious. Maybe the Bradford Council should take note. Yorkshire nous, grit and determination by Bradford councillors in days gone by is what made Bradford so successful.

They should research what being Yorkshire means. Copying the efforts of our football team may help them realise the guts, determination and bloody-mindedness that it will take to regenerate this once great city.

Their antics in the future will tell us whether they are like our football team who are willing to go to whatever lengths necessary to achieve success, or are they like too many modern-day footballers who play only for the money they get from the game, regardless of whether they win or not.

Come on councillors. Are you a Bradford City or a Chelsea player?
