SIR – I am writing to express my utter disgust at the treatment of Mrs McDonald regarding support for her severely disabled daughter by the WCA (T&A, November 25).
This young woman has been severely disabled from birth so why does she need another assessment after leaving her special school in July? Do these bureaucrats think her disability has suddenly and miraculously disappeared?
Mrs McDonald had filled in the necessary forms and her GP had sent a note stating her daughter’s disability.
She was already receiving an allowance after an earlier assessment, so surely that money should continue to be paid pending the new medical assessment, which is a waste of time as it will come to the same conclusion, that Ellie is unable to work.
This seems to me to be a blatant case of disability discrimination by the WCA. It’s time these supposedly intelligent people put their brains in gear and used a bit of common sense!
