SIR – David Green wants Bradford to be connected to the rail electrification scheme (October 11).
We are told the scheme will be up and running by 2036. Forgive me, Mr Green, but I couldn’t care less what they do with the rail network across this country, as many of us may not be around in 26 years’ time.
Coun Green wants the Wortley Curve re-opened to connect Bradford with Wakefield. Why? There are many who live in the Spen Valley with no means of boarding a train unless they go to either Dewsbury or Bradford. People have campaigned for a single track to be laid along the Spen Valley Greenway, wooden platforms built at Cleckheaton, Liversedge and Heckmondwike.
Councillors and MPs, I say get out there, witness the Chain Bar roundabout at 9am, sit in the traffic along the valley. Never mind the Wortley Curve, get Low Moor Station built and a link along the valley.
