SIR – In the early hours of October 7, my husband John Laurie Gribbin was admitted to A&E at Bradford Royal Infirmary. On my arrival I was greeted by a really lovely lady who was a carer for John at Laurel Bank Nursing Home where he had been a resident for a number of years, and she introduced me to the staff looking after John.
The team at BRI were absolutely wonderful from the minute I walked in. After spending time in A&E, we were transferred to ward 30 by a porter and nurse who were extremely kind and considerate. The staff not only cared for John, but ensured I was ok. John’s treatment was excellent as they cared for his individual needs, even though they knew he was very ill and would not survive more than a few days. You could not fault their attention to detail or their compassion, from the domestic staff through to the consultants – no amount of money could buy this quality of service.
Sadly he died of pneumonia. We hear so much bad press about the BRI that I felt I could not let this go without saying a big thank-you.
Mrs E Gribbin, Leaventhorpe Farm, Thornton
