SIR – One may ask the question why Ukip are climbing the political ladder so quickly. Want a simple answer? The three main parties are heaps of rubbish and in my view have all lost the plot.

Labour can’t make up its mind as to whether it’s left, right fairweather or foul, the Tories are bordering on neo-fascism, and have become power-obsessed tyrants, as for Lib Dems they are going to a political grave never to be seen again. The voting public see the UK independence party as a political knight in shinning armour coming to the rescue.

Let’s hope the Ukip knight does come to the political rescue. Only time will tell.
